… we collaborate with the "Tante Amalia" disability friendly workplace in Middelburg?! "Tante Amalia" offers an accessible working environment for people with disability and is a part of the Philadelphia Care Foundation. We have been working together since 2014 and are still doing so with just as much pleasure.
HOW DOES THE COOPERATION WORK?
As a bead wholesaler, most products are delivered to us in large quantities, sometimes in tens of kilos. Before we can place these beads and other items online, they must first be packed in bags of 100 pieces, for example. And this is where "Tante Amalia"" comes in helping us with this big chore. It is fantastic to see how the "Tante Amalia" team gets down to work enthusiastically every time.
A LOOK AT THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT
There are approximately 20 employees who count or weigh the beads and then fill them into bags according to the correct product sticker on them. This all happens in a special workplace at "Tante Amalia", supervised with good guidance. Through this clearly structured and well-organised working environment, employees learn how to work together and to gain structure of their own. This makes them proud of their work and gives their life colour.
It is very enjoyable to see that they all go to work with great pleasure, however they are nevertheless more enthusiastic about the cheerful, pink glitter beads than the "boring" brown beads. We understand this very well, in our team everybody also has their own favourites! In addition to packing beads and other items for us, they also do lighter production and wrapping work for other companies and they make nice cuddly toys and pillows from blanket fabrics.
EVERYONE COUNTS
Being part of society and the business community in which everyone counts is what is important to each one. Mieke Noordhoek, supervisor at "Tante Amalia" always says to her team: "You and your work matter!". Wilco Poppe, owner of Dreambeads Online, also agrees with this positive attitude towards this cooperation with "Tante Amalia". Wilco: "It's so nice to see that something as small as a bag of beads can be of great significance in the lives of these people".
This cooperation is very important to us. Of course partly because we can outsource some of the work, but also because we think it is important to contribute to a society in which everyone counts. We hope to continue the pleasant and successful cooperation with "Tante Amalia" for many years to come.
