- Transparent cabochon oval
- Matching cabochon setting
- Jewelry glue
- Photo

You can think of any motif and turn it into a photo cabochon. There are a few points to consider. Choose a sharp photo or image where the subject is not too small. A photo that is zoomed in too much can blur, and of course we do not want that. Another option is to choose a pretty picture from a magazine. Slide the transparent cabochon over a journal or magazine and see if a nice picture comes out!
To print your photo, you can choose regular printing paper, however we recommend photo paper for the best effect. Read on to learn how to crop the photo and attach it to the cabochon setting.
KEYCHAIN DESIGNS
There are many designs possible for your photo keychain. The simplest design is a photo cabochon that attaches to a keychain. Beautiful charms can be added if desired. Another option is to combine the photo or picture with beads. This looks great and adds that little extra something!
Our tip: a photo keychain with a leather band. Flat leather bands and round leather cords are suitable for this combination, both available in many beautiful trendy colors. If you want to make a photo keychain with a leather band, you will also need the following materials:

Now that you have found a suitable photo or decided on your design, let's get started! In the instructions below, we will explain step by step how to make a photo keychain with a leather band.
Part 1: Making a photo cabochon
1. We start by printing the photo. A straightforward way to print out the correct size is to first create circles using a drawing program on the computer. For a 14mm cabochon, draw circles of 15mm leaving 1mm of margin. Suitable programs for this are Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Word or other editing programs.
2. Place your photo in the circle, paying close attention to the positioning. Are you happy with the alignment? Then you can start printing.
3. Now stick the transparent cabochon on the photo. To do this, apply the jewelry glue to the cabochon and spread it out on the flat side. We use Hasulith jewelry glue. Place the cabochon on your photo and press firmly. This is important to avoid air bubbles. Now let it rest until the specified drying time of the glue.
4. Once dry, cut out the photo by carefully cutting along the edge around the cabochon.
5. Then apply the jewelry glue to the entire surface of the inside of the setting, place the cabochon in the setting and press it down lightly so that it sticks well in the setting.
6. After the specified drying time, your photo cabochon is ready!
Part 2: Attach leather band
7. Take a 10mm wide flat leather band and cut off about 6cm. Then put some jewelry glue into the end cap, insert the leather band and press it in well.
8. After the recommended drying time, put a slider bead of your choice over the leather band. Curious about the different types of slider beads? Check out our collection of slider beads! Now repeat the gluing process for the other end of the leather band and let it dry again. In this step you can shorten the leather band to the desired length.
9. As a last step, attach the keychain to the upper part of the leather band using a jump ring. Do the same with the photo cabochon but attach it to the lower part of the leather band.
10. Your self-made photo keychain is ready!
